LIFE IS NOT A FAIRY TALE is COMPTE’s first collection/story and is inspired by the origin and history of children’s stories. In its origins, the stories that were told to children were not as we know them today, they had a dark background of hard stories with which they tried to teach and make children aware of how hard real life was. These stories tell tales of mutilation, horror, pain and blood. It was taught that life is difficult, that life “is not a fairy tale.” In addition, a fundamental value in COMPTE is to be able to show beauty behind the ugly or the sinister.
This collection does not refer to any specific story, but rather talks about pain, dismemberment, the suffering of situations but above all, it talks about overcoming, regenerating wounds and talking about the deepest inside of our bodies and above all we talk about heal the damaged. Life is not a fairy tale but let’s learn to live as if it were one. “Life is not a Fairy Tale” also becomes a brand statement, this is definitely COMPTE.
For “Life is not a Fairy Tale” classic and contemporary pictorial references are important and art is part of COMPTE as a form of expression. For this collection we have also been inspired by the work of Lucio Fontana, who literally in his works used the force of a knife instead of a brush. His best-known works are monochromatic canvases, punctuated by buchi and tagli (holes and cuts), which tell us, among other things, about what real space is, about the material for its conceptual use, about the object, about the individual gesture, of violence…
